Selective eating is not stubbornness

Avoidant or restrictive eating, sometimes called ARFID, can come from anxiety, sensory sensitivity, fear, or simply low interest in food. It is not a behaviour problem or a lack of willpower, and it deserves patient, knowledgeable care.

How we work on it together

We move at your pace, never with pressure or force, gently expanding the range of foods that feel safe while making sure you are nourished. I can work alongside a therapist or care team where helpful.

Questions

Do you push people to eat foods they are scared of?

Never. The work is pressure free and paced entirely by what feels safe for you. Trust comes first.

Is ARFID an eating disorder?

ARFID is a recognized eating disorder, and it responds well to compassionate, specialized support. For complex cases, care is best as a team, and I can be part of that.
