Non-diet virtual dietitian care for Burlington and Halton Region, with Lauren Hofstee, RD. Eating disorder recovery, disordered eating, body image, binge eating, and food anxiety support, all online.
Book a free intro callBurlington has one of the province's few community eating disorder programs inside its own region, and it is a prevention program rather than a treatment one. I work with people across the city online, for the part that is about food itself.
Lauren is based in Guelph and Toronto and works virtually across Ontario. That means people in Burlington can access specialized nutrition counselling without travelling to a clinic, while still working with someone registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
You may be looking for general nutrition advice, but many people land here because food has become louder than they want it to be. You might be dealing with restriction, binge eating, guilt after eating, fear foods, body checking, or feeling unsure whether your eating is serious enough to deserve support. It is enough to start a conversation.

A gentle, private self-reflection tool if you are not sure what to call what is happening.

Sessions happen by secure video from wherever you are in Burlington. Nothing to prepare, nothing to weigh.
We work at your pace toward a calmer, steadier relationship with food and your body.
Every person who reaches out is met where they are. These are the main reasons people in Burlington and across Ontario look for this kind of care:
Nutrition support for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID, orthorexia, and eating that feels frightening or out of control.
Compassionate, weight-inclusive care when food, exercise, rules, guilt, or body image have started to take over.
A non-diet approach to binge eating, emotional eating, and the restrict-binge cycle, without shame or more rules.
Gentle support for food anxiety, fear foods, avoidance, and the slow work of feeling safer around eating.
Help for chronic dieting, body checking, food guilt, and rebuilding trust with your body at a steadier pace.
Work with a Registered Dietitian online from anywhere in Ontario, with receipts for extended health reimbursement.
Because care is virtual, I work with clients in Burlington and nearby communities including Aldershot, the lakeshore, and the Golden Horseshoe, as well as people right across Ontario. You do not need to live near a clinic to get thoughtful, registered dietitian support. You can also browse every Ontario city served.
Danielle's Place at ROCK is here, and it is genuinely unusual for a city this size to have anything of its kind. Its own site describes Danielle's Place as an eating disorder prevention program housed at ROCK, serving Burlington and the Halton region, focused on self-esteem and body image.
The word prevention is doing important work in that sentence, and it is worth reading carefully rather than hopefully. Prevention programming and clinical treatment are different things aimed at different moments. If eating has already become frightening, restrictive, or out of control, prevention is not the piece you are missing. Knowing that in advance saves you a call that ends in disappointment, and it is not a criticism of a program doing exactly what it says it does.
Hamilton is next door, and Body Brave is based there. Its own site states that its services are free of charge, that no referral is needed, that virtual recovery services are available to individuals aged fourteen and older, and that clinical support services are available to individuals aged seventeen and older in Ontario. Because it works virtually, being in Burlington rather than Hamilton makes no practical difference to access.
The publicly funded hospital programs on the provincial list are in Toronto and Ottawa, and both require a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner. That referral is often the slowest part, and it is worth asking your doctor to start it early even if you are also doing other things in the meantime.
The nutrition piece, which is what I do, is individual and outpatient. It works on eating regularly and adequately, on food rules and fear foods, and on rebuilding some trust in hunger and fullness. It sits alongside a physician and a therapist rather than replacing either, and it is not crisis support. If a situation is medically unstable, that belongs with emergency or specialist medical care, and I will say so plainly. Nothing about starting here affects a referral already in progress, and there is no reason to treat the two as alternatives while you wait.

Some of the writing people in Burlington find their way to first. No plans, no rules, just honest thinking about food and body.
If you feel like you can't stop eating, there are real reasons, and almost none of them are about willpower. A kind, non-diet explanation.
If you feel out of control around food, the problem is usually not too little willpower. It is too much restriction. Here is how that cycle actually works.
What actually makes a meal hold you until the next one, without portion rules, plate diagrams, or the sense that you got it wrong.
Reaching out is often the hardest part. The intro call is free, and there is no pressure to continue.
